Physical Education

At Ashburton Drive PS each class has a one-hour physical education session per week.

 

In addition, senior students have one hour of senior sport with the specialist and class teachers each week.

Year 5/6-

Term one: softball, T-ball and cricket leading up to an Interschool carnival late in the term.

Term two: hockey, netball, AFL football, soccer leading up to an Interschool carnival late in the term. Rugby skills are also taught during senior sport however; it is not classified as an Interschool sport.

 

Whole school-

 

Term two:

Edu-dance (K-6) program.

Faction cross country (3-6) is run early in the term and Interschool cross-country follows in approximately week four.

Faction athletics carnival (K-6) is held in week nine.

 

Term four:

Interschool athletics carnival (1-6) is held in weeks 3 or 4 depending on the size and previous competition level of the school.

 

Whole school Run Club is overseen daily by Staff and Faction Captains before school. This is offered to all students (K-6) and interested parents. Recognition is given to students who complete increments of 100kms with a certificate and band.

 

The school also accesses available community sporting organisations to hold specialised clinics with the students. These include Perth Demons for AFL, Perth Glory for soccer, Rugby WA, Netball WA, Kalamunda basketball association, WACA for cricket via the SEDA program and Softball WA.
